Overview

The youths are our future. Let Islam be their light for a brighter future. As they start off in tertiary institutions or head out to the workforce, they will benefit from Islamic teachings and practices that will guide them through their challenges.

Youth aL.I.V.E. is an Islamic Education Programme that targets 17 to 20 year-old youths. Its approach and content is a progression from Teens aL.I.V.E.

  • It takes cognizance of the development stages and needs of the youths as well as their exposure in school.
  • Core themes in this programme include personal development, leadership, relationships & contemporary issues

Teaching Approach

This programme adopts an interactive and student-centric approach.  Lessons will be conducted using one or more of the following teaching methodologies :

  • Individual and group activities
  • Discussions
  • Lectures
  • Multimedia  screening
  • Presentations
  • Project Work
  • Research
  • Study Visits

Desired Outcome

The main aim of this programme is to increase the awareness of Islamic Civilisation to youths between the age of 17 and 20 years.  It hopes to expand the knowledge of Islam and add more colour to the learning of Islam.

By the end of the Islamic Civilisation Primer Series, participants should be able to:

  • Describe a chronological overview of Islamic Civilisation and History
  • Demonstrate an increased appreciation of Muslim Civilisations  and a good understanding of contemporary issues vis-à-vis the subject
  • Develop a sense of responsibility and contribution to the society

Subjects

The Teens aL.I.V.E. programme offers subjects spread across several theme-based workshops.
Participants will be assessed using a variety of methods as follows:

  • Project Work (40%)
  • Attendance (20%)
  • Class participation (20%)
  • Weekly quiz (20%)

A certificate of achievement will be awarded to students who meet the course completion requirements (50%).

This programme is held once a week for 3 hours per session.

Fees

Enrollment Fee

The Enrollment Fee for Academic Year 2012 is S$120

This fee consists of the following:

  • Registration Fee: S$10
  • Monthly Programme Fee (January 2012): S$30
  • Miscellaneous Fee: $80

Besides the Enrollment Fee, what else to bring?
Please bring along:
- a photocopy of your child’s birth certificate &
- a photocopy of parent/guardian IC (front & back)
- completed registration form to our general office during office hours
